Reductio ad Absurdium, or Something of the Sort

Reductio ad Absurdium, or Something of the Sort

I was talking to my friend, regarding football, when he said the most amazingly pragmatic, yet absurd statement of all time-
"It's just wrong to see 22 men with no priorities in life running around with a ball. Won't it be more fair, if they could run around with 22 balls instead?"
Actually, they run around with a total of 44, but that's not the point. (Pardon the crude double entendre).
At face value, the sentence is true, none can doubt it. These men have no sense of responsibility, towards themselves, or towards society. I mean, what is the point of spending your twenties and thirties, your most productive time of life, playing a game? Yes, I said game, for it is one, it is not a sport. A sportsman is one who has been tried and tested by life, and has come out on top. A gamer is a person wasting time playing for self gratification.
There, I am going to say it. Without meaning to offend anyone, I feel that careers is sports (or games, as is most often the case) ought to be taken up only by those most deficient in a certain crucially important grey substance present between the ears. (If you understood that last well veiled insult, then congratulations, you don't deserve to be part of that group).
I think human society has wonderfully evolved to accommodate for these people. They are systematically picked up and removed from society, where they cannot cause any damage, and interfere with the working people, the productive people. They are given "jobs" and they feel like they are "contributing" to the world's output when in fact, they are not interfering with the actual contributors. No other theory can explain the claim to fame of those like Ramesh Powar, or Santakumaran Sreesanth, or John Terry or even my favourite striker, Wayne Rooney.
Having said all this, I ask you who is the bigger fool, the one playing the game, or the one who shrugs responsibility to watch them do it?

PS You won't find a bigger hypocrite than me. This last rant was written by me while I was watching a rerun of an IPL match,  and not even one featuring my home side- CSK.

PPS Despite what you may think, I have the greatest respect for true sportsmen, like Dravid and Kumble and Tendulkar. I mean no offence to anyone. If you take offence, bear in mind the fact that you have been insulted by a fool and a hypocrite of the highest order, and kindly check yourself into the nearest Mental Facility.

PPPS I have not even touched upon the subject I wanted to write about- Reductio ad Adsurdium, or Absurdus, or something like that. Perhaps I will attack that topic in my next post
